요한계시록 21:4~21:11

4   모든 눈물을 그 눈에서 닦아 주시니 다시는 사망이 없고 애통하는 것이나 곡하는 것이나 아픈 것이 다시 있지 아니하리니 처음 것들이 다 지나갔음이러라 5   보좌에 앉으신 이가 이르시되 보라 내가 만물을 새롭게 하노라 하시고 또 이르시되 이 말은 신실하고 참되니 기록하라 하시고 6   또 내게 말씀하시되 이루었도다 나는 알파와 오메가요 처음과 마지막이라 내가 생명수 샘물을 목마른 자에게 값없이 주리니 7   이기는 자는 이것들을 상속으로 받으리라 나는 그의 하나님이 되고 그는 내 아들이 되리라 8   그러나 두려워하는 자들과 믿지 아니하는 자들과 흉악한 자들과 살인자들과 음행하는 자들과 점술가들과 우상 숭배자들과 거짓말하는 모든 자들은 불과 유황으로 타는 못에 던져지리니 이것이 둘째 사망이라 9   일곱 대접을 가지고 마지막 일곱 재앙을 담은 일곱 천사 중 하나가 나아와서 내게 말하여 이르되 이리 오라 내가 신부 곧 어린 양의 아내를 네게 보이리라 하고 10   성령으로 나를 데리고 크고 높은 산으로 올라가 하나님께로부터 하늘에서 내려오는 거룩한 성 예루살렘을 보이니 11   하나님의 영광이 있어 그 성의 빛이 지극히 귀한 보석 같고 벽옥과 수정 같이 맑더라 A BETTER PLACE God Himself will be with them and be their God. -Revelation 21:3 When my friend Marci’s father in law passed away, she stopped making his favorite dessert: pineapple salad. One day, her little boy asked why she no longer served it. She replied, “It reminds me of Papa, and it makes me sad; Papa really liked that dessert.” Her son replied in a chipper tone, “Not better than heaven!” That little boy had the right idea. Heaven is a much better place. Remembering this can help ease our sadness when things on earth trigger memories of believing loved ones who have passed away. Our friends and family who have heavenly addresses are much happier there because: ? Heaven is God’s home. God’s followers will enjoy His presence for all eternity (Rev. 21:3-4). ? Heaven is comfortable in every way. Heaven’s residents will never be sick or upset (21:4), hungry or thirsty (7:16). ? Heaven is a beautiful place. A “clear as crystal” river will flow from God’s throne (22:1), and God Himself will give heaven its light (22:5). Do things in this world sometimes remind you of believers who have moved on to the next world? If so, it’s comforting to think that they are now enjoying heaven a better place by far. -Jennifer Benson Schuldt The pleasures of earth cannot be compared to the joys of heaven. 더 좋은 곳 그들은 하나님의 백성이 되고 하나님은 친히 그들과 함께 계셔서 - 요한계시록 21:3 내 친구 마르시는 시아버지가 돌아가시자 그가 제일 좋아하던 후식인 파인애플 샐러드를 더 이상 만들지 않았습니다. 하루는 어린 아들이 왜 이제는 그것을 만들어주지 않느냐고 물었습니다. 그녀는 “그걸 만들면 할아버지가 생각나서 슬퍼진단다. 할아버지가 정말 그 후식을 좋아하셨어.”라고 대답했습니다. 아들은 명랑한 목소리로 “천국보다는 못해요!”라고 말했습니다. 그 어린 아들의 생각이 맞습니다. 천국은 훨씬 더 좋은 곳입니다. 이 사실을 기억하면, 이 세상의 어떤 것으로 인해 이미 죽은 사랑했던 믿음의 사람이 생각날 때, 우리의 슬픔을 이기는데 도움이 됩니다. 천국에 주소를 둔 우리 친구와 가족이 그곳에서 훨씬 더 행복합니다. 왜냐하면, ? 천국은 하나님의 집이기 때문입니다. 하나님을 따르는 자들은 영원히 하나님이 함께하심을 즐기게 됩니다(계 21:3-4). ? 천국은 모든 면에서 안락하기 때문입니다. 천국 시민들은 결코 아프거나 화나지 않으며(21:4), 굶주리거나 목마르지 않습니다(7:16). ? 천국은 아름다운 곳이기 때문입니다. “수정같이 맑은 생명수”의 강이 하나님의 보좌에서 흘러나오고(22:1), 하나님이 직접 천국의 빛이 되어 비추십니다(22:5). 가끔씩 이 세상에서의 어떤 것들이 다음 세계로 떠나간 믿는 사람들을 생각나게 합니까? 만일 그렇다면, 그들은 지금 훨씬 더 좋은 곳인 천국을 즐기고 있다고 생각하면 위로가 됩니다. 죄와 죽음으로 가득한 이 세상도 하나님이 이토록 아름답게 만드셨다면 낙원은 비교할 수도 없을 만큼 엄청나게 아름다울 것이라네! 이 땅의 즐거움은 천국의 기쁨과 비교할 수 없다.
