At age 99, Leo Plass received his college diploma from Eastern Oregon University. He had stopped working on his teaching degree during the 1930s when he left college to earn an income in the logging industry. Seventy-nine years later, he completed the three credits necessary to graduate and resolve this important unfinished business in his life.		레오 플라스는 99세에 동오레곤 대학에서 졸업장을 받았습니다. 그는 1930년대에 교사가 되기 위한 공부를 중단하고 벌목업으로 돈을 벌기 위해 대학을 떠났습니다. 그리고 79년이 지나서야 졸업하는 데 필요한 3학점을 마저 이수하고 그의 생애에서 끝내지 못한 중요한 일을 해결했습니다.
Many of us can relate to Leo. Our unfinished business may include apologies left unsaid or, even more important, unfinished spiritual decisions. One of the criminals who was crucified with Jesus needed desperately to make such a decision. Just a few breaths away from eternity, he realized who Jesus was and wanted to be with Him in heaven. He recognized his sin and Jesus’ innocence, and said, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom” (Luke 23:42). Jesus replied, “Assuredly, . . . today you will be with Me in Paradise” (v.43).		우리 중에도 레오와 같은 경우가 많이 있을 것입니다. 우리가 끝내지 못한 일이 아직 말하지 못한 사과일 수도 있고, 더 중요하게는 어떤 영적 결정을 아직 하지 못한 것일 수 도 있습니다. 예수님과 같이 십자가에 못 박힌 죄수 한 사람은 필사적으로 그런 결정을 내려야 했습니다. 그는 죽기 바로 전에 예수님이 누구신지를 알고, 천국에서 주님과 함께 있기를 원했습니다. 그는 자기 죄와 예수님의 죄 없으심을 인식하고는, “예수여 당신의 나라에 임하실 때에 나를 생각하소서”(누가복음 23:42)라고 말했습니다. 이에 예수님은 “내가 진실로 네게 이르노니 오늘 네가 나와 함께 낙원에 있으리라”(43절)고 응답하셨습니다.
God does not want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9). His offer of salvation is open to anyone, regardless of age, health, or stage in life. His offer is open to you. Don’t delay receiving Jesus as Savior (2 Cor. 6:2). To be saved here means to be safe hereafter.		지금 구원을 받아야 내세에 안전할 수 있다.
