In an interview with Wired magazine, filmmaker George Lucas was asked how he wanted to be remembered. He replied: “I’ll be remembered as a filmmaker. . . . Hopefully some of the stories I told will still be relevant. . . . If you’ve raised children, you know you have to explain things to them, and if you don’t, they end up learning the hard way. . . . So the old stories have to be reiterated again in a form that’s acceptable to each new generation. I don’t think I’m ever going to go much beyond the old stories, because I think they still need to be told.”		영화제작자 조지 루카스가 와이어드 잡지사와의 인터뷰에서 그가 어떻게 기억되기를 바라느냐는 질문을 받았을 때 이렇게 대답했습니다. “나는 영화제작자로 기억이 되겠지요...... 내가 한 이야기들이 언제나 살아있는 메시지가 되기를 바랍니다...... 만약 아이들을 키우는 사람이라면 그들에게 많은 것들을 설명해줘야 하는데, 만약 그렇게 하지 않는다면 아이들은 고생하며 배우게 되겠지요...... 그러므로 오래된 이야기들은 각 새 세대가 받아들일 수 있는 형태로 반복해서 들려줘야 합니다. 나는 옛날이야기 외에는 별로 다룰 생각이 없는데, 그 이유는 그것들이 아직도 꼭 들려주어야 할 이야기들이라고 생각하기 때문입니다.”
In Psalm 78, the psalmist was aware of the possibility of God’s mighty works being forgotten and a generation being lost, so he called God’s people to never tire of telling the old story of His redemptive acts to future generations (v.4). The goal of this perpetual rehearsing of their history wasn’t just for memorizing historical data; it was to inspire faith, obedience, and hope in the Lord (v.7) and to keep future generations from groping in the darkness of unbelief and rebellion like the generations before them (v.8).		시편 78편 기자는 하나님의 능력 있는 기사들이 잊혀져 다음 세대에서는 사라져버릴지도 모른다는 것을 의식하고 있었습니다. 그래서 그는 하나님의 백성들에게 하나님이 오래전에 베푸신 구원의 이야기를 후세대에 지치지 말고 계속 말할 것을 요구했습니다(4절). 그들이 그들의 역사를 이렇게 끊임없이 반복해서 말한 것은 단지 역사적인 자료를 기억하는 정도를 지나, 주 안에서 믿음과 순종, 소망을 불러일으키고(7절), 후세대가 불신의 어둠에서 헤매거나 이전세대를 본받아 하나님을 거역하지 않도록 하기 위한 것이었습니다(8절).
