Sometimes the harvest comes late. Sometimes you sow seeds of hope without really knowing it. Sometimes the fruit of your life comes in a way and time you would never expect.		간혹 추수가 늦어질 때가 있습니다. 때로는 의식하지 못한 채 희망의 씨를 뿌릴 때가 있고, 때로는 삶의 과실이 전혀 기대하지 않았던 방법으로 기대하지 않았던 때에 맺히기도 합니다.
My daughter Melissa had accepted God’s gift of salvation at a young age. But she never saw herself as some great Christian who could change lives. She was just a high school junior trying to cope with a job, school, and sports while balancing friendships—just a kid trying to live as God would want her to.		내 딸 멜리사는 어린 나이에 하나님의 구원의 선물을 받아들였습니다. 그러나 그녀는 결코 자신이 남의 삶을 바꿀 수 있는 위대한 그리스도인이라고는 보지 않았습니다. 그녀는 친구들과 잘 사귀는 한편, 일하고 학교 다니고 운동을 잘하려고 노력하는 고등학교 2학년생이었던, 하나님이 원하시는 대로 살아가려고 노력했던 한 아이에 불과했습니다.
Yet, in 2002 when He welcomed her into heaven when she was just 17, her faith in Christ and her faithful life stood on their own. No advance warning. No time to make things right with others. No new opportunities to “bear much fruit” (John 15:8).		그러나 2002년, 하나님이 겨우 17살인 그녀를 하늘나라로 불러들이셨을 때, 그녀의 그리스도 안에서의 믿음과 신실한 삶만이 제대로 서 있었을 뿐, 어떤 예고도 없었고, 대인관계를 잘 정리할 시간도 없었으며, “많은 과실을 맺을”(요한복음 15:8) 새로운 기회도 갖지 못했습니다.
Melissa tried to live in a way that was pleasing to God—and her life is still bearing fruit. Just recently, I heard of a young person who trusted Jesus as Savior at a sports camp after a coach shared Melissa’s story.		멜리사는 하나님을 기쁘게 해드리는 삶을 살려고 노력했습니다. 그리고 그녀의 삶은 아직도 과실을 맺고 있습니다. 바로 얼마 전, 어떤 운동캠프에서 코치가 멜리사의 이야기를 들려줬을 때 한 젊은이가 주님을 구주로 받아들였다는 이야기를 들었습니다.
All of us are writing a story with our lives—one that affects others now and in the future. Are we living to please God? We don’t know when the Lord will call us Home. A fruitful harvest requires a faithful life.		신실한 삶을 살 때 결실이 풍성한 추수를 하게 된다.
