In 2010, my brothers and I celebrated our dad’s 90th birthday. We hosted an open house with great food and fellowship. In the living room, family and friends took up banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, upright bass, and Irish drum to play and sing all afternoon. A big cake was prepared with this written on it in frosting: “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord—Psalm 112:1. Happy 90th birthday, Hal.”		2010년에 우리 형제들은 아버지의 90회 생신을 맞이하여 정성들여 음식을 장만하고 친교를 곁들이는 오픈하우스 파티를 열었습니다. 가족과 친구들이 오후 내내 거실에서 벤조, 기타, 만돌린, 바이올린, 더블베이스, 드럼 등을 연주하고 노래하며 보냈습니다. “여호와를 경외하며 그 계명을 크게 즐거워하는 자는 복이 있도다-시편 112편 1절, 축 90회 생신, 할렐루야”라고 쓰인 커다란 케이크도 준비했습니다.
When I later examined Psalm 112, I was impressed with how it seemed to describe my dad—who had walked with God for more than 50 years and is now at home with Him. Dad had his own share of heartaches and faults, but his steadfast faith resulted in much blessing. This psalm tells us that blessings will fall on the man who has a reverential fear of God and who delights in His commands. In response to this growing integrity and faith, God will extend blessing not only to the believer but also to his children (v.2).		나중에 시편 112편을 자세히 살펴보았을 때, 이 시편이 50년 이상을 하나님과 함께 동행해오셨고 지금은 천국에서 하나님과 함께 계시는 아버지를 잘 표현해주고 있음을 보고 감동받았습니다. 아버지도 번민이나 과실이 있었지만, 굳은 믿음 덕분에 많은 축복을 받았습니다. 이 시편은 주님을 두려운 마음으로 경외하고 계명을 즐거워하는 자에게는 축복이 쏟아진다는 것을 말해주고 있습니다. 이렇게 성장해가는 고결함과 믿음에 반응하여 주님은 그 믿는 자 뿐만 아니라 그의 자녀들에게도 축복을 내려주실 것입니다(2절).
This psalm challenges us to reflect an inner reverence for God and to make continual decisions to delight in following His commands. If we do that, then as we look back on our years—no matter how many or how few—we will know that God has helped us live a life of honor.  —Dennis Fisher		이 시편은 우리로 하여금 주님을 마음속으로 경배하고 줄곧 주님의 계명을 즐거이 따르기를 결심하도록 도전을 줍니다. 그렇게 살아간다면 우리는 짧든 길든 살아온 세월을 뒤돌아볼 때마다 주님께서 우리에게 영광스런 삶을 살게 해주셨다는 것을 알게 될 것입니다.

If you honor God in your heart, He will be honored by your life.		진심으로 주님을 영광스럽게 한다면,  주님은 당신의 삶을 통하여 영광을 받으실 것이다.
