The Heavens Declare		하늘이 선포하다
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.  —Psalm 19:1		하늘이 하나님의 영광을 선포하고 궁창이 그 손으로 하신 일을 나타내는도다  —시편 19:1

You don’t have to gaze long at the night sky to marvel at the wonder of God’s awe-inspiring handiwork. The massive stretch of galaxies and the cloudy mass of our own Milky Way remind us of the spectacular creation and the sustaining work of Jesus by whom it is all held together (Col. 1:16-17). It’s as though all of us have front-row seats in the theater of God’s creative power.		밤하늘을 조금만 보고 있어도 하나님의 놀라운 솜씨에 경탄을 금할 길이 없습니다. 우주에 거대하게 펼쳐진 은하계들과 뿌연 덩어리로 보이는 우리의 은하수는 하나님의 놀라운 창조와, 이 모든 것을 함께 붙들고 계시는 예수 그리스도의 사역을 생각나게 해줍니다(골로새서 1:16-17). 마치 우리 모두가 하나님의 창조의 능력을 상영하는 극장의 맨 앞자리에 앉아 있는 것과 같은 느낌입니다.
But the nightly show we experience is nothing compared with the glory that God displayed when He sent His Son to Earth. While shepherds were watching their flocks, the sky was suddenly ablaze with angelic messengers praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest!” (Luke 2:14). Even Magi from a foreign land came and worshiped the King when God planted the brightest of stars in the east, which led them to Bethlehem.		그러나 밤마다 경험하는 그 쇼는 하나님이 그분의 아들을 이 땅에 보내실 때의 영광과 비교해보면 아무것도 아닙니다. 목자들이 밤중에 양떼를 돌보고 있는 동안 갑자기 하늘이 “지극히 높은 곳에서는 하나님께 영광이요”(누가복음 2:14)라고 하나님을 찬양하는 천사들의 광채로 환하게 밝아졌습니다. 하나님이 가장 밝은 별을 동쪽에 심으셨을 때 동방 박사들도 이국땅에서 그 별을 보고 베들레헴에 와서 왕이신 예수님께 경배하였습니다.
While “the heavens declare the glory of God” nightly (Ps. 19:1), never before or since has the theater of the universe been more alive with His glory than it was with the announcement that the Creator of this universe loved us enough to come to our planet to save us from our sin. Keep that thought in mind the next time you marvel at the stars! —Joe Stowell		매일 밤 “하늘이 하나님의 영광을 선포”(시편 19:1)하지만, 이 우주의 창조주께서 우리를 죄에서 구원하시려고 여기 지구로 내려오시기까지 우리를 사랑하셨다는 것을 선포한 그것보다, 이 우주의 극장에서 더 생생한 영광의 선포는 전에도 없었고 그 이후에도 없었습니다. 다음에 밤하늘의 별들을 보며 경이감을 느낄 때 이것을 마음에 새기며 바라보십시오!
Lord, make us mindful of the glorious day when the heavens resounded with the announcement of the coming of Your Son. Lead us to glorify Him in ways that catch the attention of  our watching world.		하나님, 하늘이 하나님의 아들이 오심을 선포하는 소리로 울려 퍼졌던 영광스러운 그 날을 기억하며 살도록 도와주소서. 우리를 지켜보는 이 세상이 알 수 있도록 주님을 영화롭게 하며 살게 이끌어주소서.
The spectacular glory of God’s love for us was revealed in the coming of Jesus.		우리를 향한 놀랍고도 영광스런 하나님의 사랑은  예수 그리스도의 오심으로 전개되었다.
