[365묵상] 사람들을 행복하게 만들라

[ 에바 알머슨 : an adventure ]

 

 

< 사람들을 행복하게 만들라 >

    의의 제사를 드리고 여호와를 의지할지어다 (시편 4:5)

 

 예전에 한 사람이 이사 가면서 살던 집의 방마다 창호지를 북북 찢어 놓고 청소도 대충 했다. 복이 옛날 집이 싫어 자기를 쫓아오게 하려면 그렇게 해야 한다는 미신 때문이었다. 드디어 새집에 도착했다. 집이 깨끗이 청소되어 있었고 눈에 잘 띄는 곳에 이런 메모지가 있었다. “이사하시느라 수고했어요. 여기서 행복하게 사세요. 저는 아래 주소로 이사 가요. 혹시 필요한것이나 묻고 싶으신 것이 있으면 연락 주세요.”

 미신은 까닭 없이 두려움을 조장하고 기복주의를 통해 인성을 망치지만 참된 믿음은 많은 사람들을 행복하게 만든다. 신앙생활의 목적을 하나님을 기쁘시게 하고 누군가를 행복하게 하는 데 두라.

 2차 세계 대전 때 일본군에게 잡힌 연합군 포로들이 노역을 끝내고 장비를 점검해 보자 장비 하나가 없었다. 일본군 지휘관이 빨리 자수하지 않으면 한 명씩 차례로 총살하겠다고 했다. 곧 침묵을 깨고 포로 한 명이 나왔고 그는 즉시 총살당했다. 죽은 포로를 땅에 묻고 모두 식당에 갔는데 거기서 다시 장비를 세어 보자 모두 있었다.

 죽은 포로는 스스로 희생양이 된 것이다. 그의 희생으로 남은 포로들은 살게 되었고 수용소에는 평화가 깃들었다. 평화는 누군가의 희생으로 만들어지는 것이지 그저 바람처럼 다가오는 것이 아니다. 한 사람이 희생하면 불화는 끝나고 평화가 생긴다. 져 주는 한 사람이 공동체 전체를 이기게 하고 신실한 성도 한 사람이 주변 세상을 밝힌다.

    하나님! 참된 믿음을 통해 하나님을 기쁘시게 하고
    공동체를 승리와 평화로 이끄는 초석이 되게 하소서.

 

< Make People Happy >

    Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. (Psalm 4:5)

 In the past, as a person moved out, he tore up the window papers every room in the house where he lived and cleaned it roughly. It was because of the superstition that he had to do so in order for fortune to chase him because it hated the old house. Finally he arrived at his new house. The house was clean and there was this memo in a noticeable place. “Good job moving. Live happily here. I'm moving to the address below. If you need anything or want to ask me, please contact me.”

 While superstition promotes fear for no reason and ruins personality through blessingism, true faith makes many people happy. Set the purpose of your life of faith to please God and make someone happy.

 When Allied POWs captured by the Japanese during World War II finished their labor and checked their equipment, there was not a single piece of equipment. The Japanese commander said that he would shoot one by one unless someone turned himself in quickly. Soon a prisoner broke the silence and turned himself in and he was promptly shot dead. After burying the dead prisoner, they all went to the cafeteria, where they counted the equipment again and all the equipment were there.

 The dead prisoner became the scapegoat himself. At his sacrifice, the remaining prisoners lived and peace reigned in the camp. Peace is made at someone's sacrifice, not just coming like the wind. When one person sacrifices, the discord ends and the peace begins. One happy loser makes the whole community win, and one faithful believer lights up the world around him.

   God! Let me please God through true faith
   and be the cornerstone that leads the community to peace.
