You’re Necessary		우리는 필요한 존재이다

The story has been told about a conductor who was rehearsing his orchestra. The organ was giving a beautiful melody, the drums were thundering, the trumpets were blaring, and the violins were singing beautifully. But the conductor noticed something missing—the piccolo. The piccolo player had gotten distracted and hoped his instrument wouldn’t be missed. The conductor reminded him: “Each one of us is necessary.”		한 지휘자가 오케스트라와 공연 리허설을 하고 있었습니다. 오르간은 아름다운 멜로디를 전하고, 드럼은 우레 소리를 내며, 트럼펫은 크게 울리고, 바이올린은 아름답게 노래하고 있었습니다. 하지만 지휘자는 무언가가 빠졌다는 것을 알아차렸습니다. 피콜로가 빠진 것입니다. 피콜로 연주자가 한 눈을 팔다가 자기 차례를 놓친 것이었습니다. 지휘자는 그 연주자에게 “우리 한 사람 한 사람이 모두 다 필요합니다.”라고 상기시켜 주었습니다.
This was essentially the same message Paul communicated to the Corinthian believers in his first letter to them (12:4-7). Every Christian plays an important role in the body of Christ. Paul gave a list of gifts of the Spirit and compared their use to the functioning of the various parts of the human body for the good of the whole (vv.8-10). The Corinthian believers may have had different cultural backgrounds, gifts, and personalities, but they were filled with the same Spirit and belonged to the same body of Christ. Paul made special mention of the parts of the body that were weak and obscure, and taught that all believers play a necessary and significant role. No one part was more necessary than any other.		이것은 바울이 고린도에 있는 성도들에게 그가 처음 보낸 편지에서 전했던 메시지와 본질적으로 같은 것입니다(12:4-7). 모든 그리스도인들은 그리스도의 몸 안에서 각자 중요한 역할을 합니다. 바울은 성령의 은사들을 나열하고 나서 그 은사들의 용도를 사람 몸의 여러 지체들이 몸 전체를 위해서 움직이는 것과비교하면서 설명하였습니다(8-10절). 고린도의 성도들은 다른 문화적 배경과 은사와 성격들을 가지고 있었지만, 같은 성령으로 충만하였고 같은 그리스도의 몸에 속해 있었습니다. 바울은 신체 부위 중약하고 두드러지지 않은 부분들을 특별히 언급하면서 모든 성도들이 다 필요하고 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다고 가르쳤습니다. 어떤 역할도 다른 어느 역할보다 더 필요한 것은 하나도 없었던 것입니다.

As a member of the body of Christ, you are a necessary part of the whole.		그리스도의 몸 된 교회의 지체로 우리 하나하나는  없어서는 안 될 중요한 부분이다.
