Divine Diversions		우회시키시는 하나님

I tend to get stuck in my ways, so anything that diverts me from my routines and plans can be very annoying. Worse yet, life’s diversions are sometimes unsettling and painful. But God, who said, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways” (Isa. 55:8), knows that He often needs to divert us in order to make more of our lives than we would have if we had stuck to our original plans.		나는 내 방식대로만 하려는 경향이 있어 어떤 일로 일상생활이나 계획의 방향이 틀어져버리면 아주 불쾌해합니다. 하지만 더 안 좋은 것은, 삶이 우회하게 될 때 때로는 불안하고 고통스럽다는 사실입니다. 그러나 “내 생각은 너희 생각과 다르며 내 길은 너희 길과 달라서”(이사야 55:8)라고 말씀하신 하나님은 우리가 처음 계획에 집착했을 때보다 우리 삶에 더 많은 것을 얻게 하시려고 종종 우리에게 방향전환이 필요하다는 것을 알고 계십니다.
Think of Joseph. God diverted him to Egypt to prepare him to rescue God’s chosen people from starvation. Or of Moses, who was diverted from the luxurious lifestyle of Pharaoh’s house to meet God in the wilderness in preparation to lead God’s people toward the Promised Land. Or of Joseph and Mary to whom the angel announced the most significant diversion of all. Mary would be with child, and this child would be called “Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21). Joseph believed in the bigger purpose that God had for him, surrendered to the diversion, and obediently “called His name Jesus” (v.25). The rest is wonderful history!		요셉을 생각해보십시오. 하나님은 택한 백성들을 굶주림에서 구하시려고 요셉을 애굽으로 우회시키셨습니다. 또, 모세는 어떻습니까? 하나님의 백성들을 약속의 땅으로 인도하기 위해 바로의 집에서 호화롭게 생활하다가 우회하여 광야에서 하나님을 만났습니다. 어쩌면 요셉과 마리아에게 천사가 나타나 알려준 일은 가장 의미 있는 우회임이 분명합니다. 마리아는 아이를 잉태할 것이며, 그 아이의 이름을 “예수라 하라 이는 그가 자기 백성을 저희 죄에서 구원할 자이심이라”(마태복음 1:21)는 말을 들었습니다. 요셉은 하나님께 더 큰 계획이 있음을 믿고 그 변화에 복종하였으며, 말씀에 순종하여 아이의 “이름을 예수”(25절)라고 하였습니다. 그 이후의 일은 두말 할 필요 없지요!
We can trust God’s greater plans as He does His far better work in the history of our lives. —Joe Stowell		우리는 하나님이 우리의 삶 속에 훨씬 좋은 일들을 행하시기에 그분의 더 큰 계획을 신뢰할 수 있습니다.
Lord, teach us to be willing to adjust our plans  to conform to Yours. You have greater things  in store for us than we could ever dream, so  help us to patiently wait for You to work  in the circumstances of our lives.		주님, 주님의 계획에 기꺼이 우리의 계획을  맞추도록 우리를 가르쳐주소서. 우리가 꿈에도  생각지 못한 더 위대한 것들을 예비해두시니,  우리를 도와 주님이 우리의 삶에 구체적으로  역사하시도록 인내하며 기다리게 하소서.
Let God direct—or redirect—your steps.		하나님께서 우리의 걸음을 인도하시거나 우회하시도록 하라.
