속지 말라 Don't Be Deceived

아담과 하와의 이야기에서 우리는 다른 종류의 위협적인 존재를 알게 됩니다. 사탄인 뱀은 “하나님처럼 되려면” 하나님 명을 거역하고 선악과를 먹어야 한다고 아담과 하와를 속였습니다(창세기 3:1–7). 그런데 왜 뱀의 말을 들었을까요? 말로만 하와를 유혹하였을까요, 아니면 뱀에게 어떤 매력이 있었을까요? 성경은 사탄이 아름답게 창조되었다고 암시합니다(에스겔 28:12). 그런데 사탄도 그가 하와를 유인했던 것과 같은 유혹, 곧 “내가 [하나님과] 같아지리라”(이사야 14:14; 에스겔 28:9)는 유혹에 넘어졌습니다.

사탄이 가진 아름다움은 속이는데 사용됩니다(창세기 3:1; 요한복음 8:44; 고린도후서 11:14). 사탄은 자신이 넘어진 것처럼 끊임없이 사람을 끌어내리거나 자라지 못하게 합니다. 그러나 우리에게는 훨씬 강한 분이 계십니다! 우리는 우리의 아름다운 구주이신 예수님께 달려갈 수 있습니다.

In the story of Adam and Eve, we learn of a different kind of menace. The serpent, Satan, deceived the couple into disobeying God and eating the forbidden fruit so they would “be like God” (Genesis 3:1–7). But why listen to a serpent? Did his words alone entice Eve, or was there also something attractive about him? Scripture hints at Satan being created beautiful (Ezekiel 28:12). Yet Satan fell by the same temptation he used to entice Eve: “I will make myself like [God]” (Isaiah 14:14; Ezekiel 28:9).

Any beauty Satan now has is used to deceive (Genesis 3:1; John 8:44; 2 Corinthians 11:14). Just as he fell, he seeks to pull others down—or keep them from growing. But we have someone far more powerful on our side! We can run to Jesus, our beautiful Savior.—Alyson Kieda
