What did Jesus see when He looked at the woman at the well in John 4? He saw someone who wanted acceptance and desperately needed to know she was loved. Most of all, He saw someone who needed what only He could give— a new heart.		요한복음 4장에 기록된 우물가의 여인에게서 예수님은 무엇을 보셨습니까? 예수님은 사람들과 함께 어울리고 싶어 하며, 또 자신이 사랑받고 있다는 것을 절실히 느끼고 싶어 하는 한 여인을 보셨습니다. 무엇보다도, 예수님만이 줄 수 있는 새로운 마음이 필요한 여인을 보셨던 것입니다.
It was no accident that the disciples had all gone to town to buy food. Surely, they would have tried to warn Jesus not to talk to this person— a woman, a Samaritan, and someone with a bad reputation.		제자들이 모두 음식을 사기 위하여 마을로 들어간 것은 우연이 아니었습니다. 그들이 있었다면 여자이며, 사마리아인이고, 평판마저 좋지 않은 이 사람과 말을 하지 말라고 분명히 예수님께 주의를 주었을 것입니다.
Not being one to follow protocol, however, Jesus used this encounter to bless her with the truth of “living water” (John 4:10). In just one conversation, He broke down barriers of old hostilities, of gender bias, of ethnic and racial divides. And this woman became the first of many Samaritans to confess that Jesus was the Messiah (vv.39-42).		그러나 세상 관념을 따르지 않는 예수님은 이 우연한 만남을 “생수”(요한복음 4:10)의 진리로 그녀를 축복하는 기회로 삼으셨습니다. 단 한 번의 대화를 통해서 예수님은 오래 묵은 적대감과 성에 대한 장벽, 그리고 민족적 인종적 차별에 대한 장벽을 깨뜨리셨습니다. 그리고 이 여인은 예수님을 메시아라고 고백한 많은 사마리아인들 중 첫 번째 사람이 되었습니다(39-42절).
When she told others of her encounter with a Man who knew “all that I ever did,” she was already practicing the principle of “sowing and reaping” that Jesus was teaching His followers (John 4:35-38). Many believed that day, and later Philip, Peter, John, and others would preach in Samaria and lead many more to Christ (Acts 8: 5-14; 15:3).		그 여인이 “내가 행한 모든 것을” 알고 있는 메시아와의 만남을 다른 사람들에게 전했을 때, 그녀는 예수님이 제자들에게 가르쳤던 “씨 뿌리고 거두는” 원리(요한복음 4:35-38)를 이미 실천하고 있었습니다. 그날 많은 사람들이 믿게 되었으며, 그 이후에 빌립, 베드로, 요한과 다른 제자들이 사마리아에서 복음을 전하게 되었을 때, 더 많은 사람들이 그리스도에게로 돌아왔습니다(사도행전 8:5-14; 15:3).
