< 신앙과 신학을 겸비하라 >

 

    오직 우리 주 곧 구주 예수 그리스도의 은혜와
    그를 아는 지식에서 자라 가라 (베드로후서 3:18)

 

 신기한 체험은 신앙 입문 과정에서는 매우 유용하지만 신앙 성숙 과정에서는 저해 요소가 되기도 한다. 어떤 성도는 신기한 체험을 자꾸 과장하고 자랑한다. 자신이 깊은 영성을 가지고 있고 하나님의 특별한 사랑을 받는다는 것을 나타내려는 영적인 욕심 때문이다. 교회에서의 자기 본분과 책무를 망각하고 신비한 체험을 강조하는 외부 간증 집회에 수시로 찾아다니면 기복주의나 치우친 신앙에 사로잡히기 쉽다.

 전문 간증 강사가 간증 집회를 자주 하면 점점 간증이 과장되는 경향이 있다. 나중에는 거의 거짓말 수준이 되기도 한다. 심지어 그렇게 간증하면서 양심을 잃고 과장을 진짜처럼 여기며 과장이 심해지다가 결국 자신을 메시야로 착각하고 정신이 병들기도 한다. 이단 추종자는 그런 과장된 체험 신앙에 잘 넘어간다. 이단 추종자의 제일 안타까운 모습은 정신이 멀쩡한 사람이 정신이 병든 교주에게 자기 영혼을 맡기는 모습이다. 거기에 체험주의 신앙의 치명성이 있다.

 체험이 신앙에 도움을 줄지라도 모든 체험은 보편적인 신학의 통제를 받아야 한다. 이단 교주는 신학을 자신의 영혼 사냥 영업을 방해하는 제일 원흉으로 여겨서 나쁘게 매도하지만 그런 매도에 넘어가지 말고 ‘신앙’과 ‘신학’의 좌우 날개가 다 필요함을 인식하라. 뜨거운 신앙과 냉철한 신학을 겸비하라. ‘신앙이 있는 사람’이 아닌 ‘신학을 배운 사람’을 목사로 성별하는 것은 그만큼 신학이 중요하다는 암시다. 헛된 영성론자가 되지 말라. 신학이 잘 활용될 때 신앙이 잘 유지된다.

 
    하나님! 체험주의 신앙에 지나치게 빠지지 말게 하시고
    신앙과 신학을 겸비한 균형 잡힌 성도가 되게 하소서.

 

 

< Combine Faith and Theology >

 

   But grow in the grace and knowledge
   of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:18)

 A miraculous experience is very useful in the process of initiation of faith, but it can also be an obstacle in the process of maturation of faith. Some believers keep exaggerating and boasting of their miraculous experiences. It is because of the spiritual desire to show that he has a deep spirituality and is specially loved by God. If you forget your duty and responsibility in the church and frequently visit external testimony rallies that emphasize mystical experiences, you are likely to be caught up in blessingism or biased beliefs.

 If a professional testimony lecturer often testifies at testimony rallies, the testimony tends to be exaggerated. Later, it becomes almost a lie. Even as he testifies like that, he can lose his conscience and treat the exaggeration as real, and the exaggeration intensifies. Finally, he can mistake himself for the Messiah and get mentally ill. Heresy followers easily fall for such exaggerated experiential beliefs. The saddest aspect of following heresy is that a sane person entrusts his or her soul to an insane religious leader.

 Even if experiences are useful for faith, all experiences must be controlled by the right theology. The heretical leader regards theology as the biggest hindrance to his soul-hunting business and criticizes it badly. But don't fall for such criticism, but recognize that both the left and right wings of faith and theology are needed. Combine passionate faith with sober theology. Ordaining those who have learned theology as pastors rather than those who have much faith implies that theology is that important. Don't be a vain spiritualist. When theology is well utilized, faith is well maintained.

 

 God! Let me not fall too much into experiential faith
 and be a balanced believer who combines faith and theology.
