If you Google “person of influence,” the search will take you to various lists of “the most influential people in the world.” These lists usually include political leaders; business entrepreneurs and athletes; along with people in science, the arts, and entertainment. You will not find the names of cooks and cleaners who work for them. Yet those in so-called lowly positions often influence the people they serve.		구글에서 “영향력 있는 사람”을 검색해보면 “이 세상에서 가장 영향력 있는 사람”에 대한 다양한 명부들을 볼 수 있습니다. 대개는 정치지도자, 기업가, 운동선수, 그리고 과학, 예술, 연예계에 몸담고 있는 사람들이 이런 명부에 포함됩니다. 이런 사람들 밑에서 일하는 요리사나 청소부의 이름은 찾을 수 없습니다. 그러나 소위 낮은 지위의 사람들이 종종 그들이 섬기는 사람들에게 영향을 끼치기도 합니다.
The story of Naaman, a high-ranking military commander, includes two kings and a prophet of God (2 Kings 5:1-15). Yet it was the servants in the background whose words led to Naaman being cured of leprosy, a career-ending, life-changing disease. A young servant girl taken captive from Israel told Naaman’s wife that a prophet in Samaria could heal him (vv.2-3). When Elisha’s instructions to bathe in the Jordan River angered Naaman, his servants urged him to follow the prophet’s orders. The result was Naaman’s restoration to health and his declaration, “Now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel” (v.15).		아주 높은 지위의 군대장관 나아만의 이야기에는 두 왕과 하나님의 선지자가 함께 등장합니다(열왕기하 5:1-15). 하지만 나아만이 장군의 지위를 위태롭게 만들고 삶을 파괴시킬 수도 있는 문둥병으로부터 고침을 받을 수 있도록 말해준 것은 눈에 드러나지 않는 하인들이었습니다. 이스라엘 땅에서 포로로 잡혀온 어린 여종이 사마리아에 있는 선지자가 나아만을 고칠 수 있다고 그의 아내에게 말하였고(2-3절), 요단강에 몸을 씻으라는 엘리사의 말에 나아만이 화를 냈을 때에는 그의 종들이 나서서 그에게 선지자의 명령을 따르라고 설득하였습니다. 그 결과 나아만의 건강이 회복되었고, 그는 “내가 이제 이스라엘 외에는 온 천하에 신이 없는 줄을 아나이다”(15절)라고 선언하게 되었습니다.

We are called to be people of influence—the Lord’s servants who point others to the One whose touch can change their lives. —David McCasland		예수 그리스도를 따르는 자들로서의 우리의 역할을 보여주는 얼마나 아름다운 모습입니까! 우리는 영향력이 있는 사람이 되라고 부름을 받았습니다. 다른 사람들을 주님께로 인도하여, 주님께서 그들을 어루만져 그들의 삶이 변화되도록 하는 일에 주님의 종으로 부름을 받은 것입니다.
Lord, I would like to live a life of influence like  Naaman’s servant girl—to be brave and bold  to touch the lives of others by pointing them to  You. Fill me, Holy Spirit, with Your power.		주님, 나아만의 여종 같은 영향력 있는 삶을 살아, 다른 사람들을 주님께로 향하게 하여 그들의 삶을 어루만질 수 있도록 용감하고 담대하게 살기를 원합니다. 성령님, 저를 성령님의 능력으로 채워주소서.
Christ sends us out to bring others in.		그리스도는 다른 사람들을 불러 모으기 위해  우리를 내보내신다.
