I’ve noticed through the years that those who have suffered are quick to comfort other sufferers. When a young couple suffers the loss of a child, another couple who also lost a child in the past asks if they can help. If a couple loses their main income, almost immediately another couple steps forward to offer their aid, remembering their own journey through foreclosure years earlier. Again and again we see the body of Christ supporting and encouraging one another. These Christians have learned that they can use the trials they’ve been through to reach out to others going through similar difficulties.		살면서 깨닫게 된 사실 한 가지는, 고생을 해본 사람이 다른 사람이 힘들어할 때 지체하지 않고 위로한다는 것입니다. 젊은 부부가 아이를 잃고 고통 받으면, 전에 아이를 잃었던 다른 부부는 그들을 어떻게 도와줄 수 있는지를 묻습니다. 어느 부부가 주 수입원을 잃게 되면, 수년 전에 집을 압류당하는 아픔을 겪었던 다른 부부가 그 일을 기억하며 즉시 도움을 자청합니다. 이처럼 반복해서 그리스도의 지체들이 서로를 도우며 격려하는 것을 우리는 봅니다. 이런 그리스도인들은 자신들이 겪은 시련을 통해 비슷한 고난을 당하는 사람들을 어떻게 도울 수 있는지를 배운 것입니다.
Have you been sick? Lost a loved one? Been imprisoned? Unfairly treated? In all of our trials, God promises to bring something good out of even our darkest moments (James 1:2-4). One key way this takes place is when we share the comfort He offered us with those who are now going through trials.		병에 걸렸거나 사랑하는 사람을 잃은 적이 있습니까? 감옥에 갇혔거나 부당하게 취급당한 적이 있습니까? 우리가 겪는 모든 시련을 통하여 하나님은 우리의 가장 어두운 순간으로부터도 좋은 것을 주시겠다고 약속하십니다(야고보서 1:2-4). 이 약속은 주님께서 우리에게 주셨던 위로를 지금 고통을 당하는 사람들과 함께 나눌 때 성취됩니다.
As Paul points out in 2 Corinthians 1:3-7, we are comforted by a Savior who knows our suffering, and we honor Him when we pass His comfort on to still others.		바울이 고린도후서 1:3-7에서 강조하듯이, 우리의 고난을 아시는 구주께서 우리를 위로하시며, 우리는 그분의 위로를 다른 사람들에게 전할 때 주님께 영광을 돌리게 됩니다.
May we never leave someone to suffer alone. If we know the trail another is on, God will help us to guide that person to His presence—the surest comfort of all. —Randy Kilgore		우리는 절대로 누군가 혼자서 힘든 일을 겪게 내버려두지 않게 되기를 바랍니다. 만일 우리가 다른 사람이 겪고 있는 어려움을 먼저 겪었다면, 하나님은 우리가 그 사람을 모든 위로 중에 가장 확실한 위로인 하나님의 임재 가운데로 이끌 수 있도록 우리를 도와주실 것입니다.
Dear Lord, help us to step forward  when others around us are suffering  trials similar to what we’ve been through.  Enable us to be a comfort,  as You have been to us in the past.		사랑하는 주님, 우리 주변의 사람들이 우리가  겪었던 것과 비슷한 시련을 겪을 때 저희들이  나설 수 있도록 도와주시옵소서. 과거에 주님께서  우리의 위로가 되어주셨던 것처럼, 저희들도  위로가 될 수 있도록 능력을 불어넣어 주옵소서.
God comforts us so that we can comfort others.		하나님이 우리를 위로하시기 때문에  우리도 다른 사람들을 위로할 수 있다.
