It seems that wherever you go these days, you see signs encouraging people to wash their hands. With the constant threat of germs and viruses spreading disease throughout the general public, health officials continually remind us that unwashed hands form the single greatest agent for the spread of germs. So, in addition to the signs calling for vigilant handwashing, public places will often provide hand sanitizers to help take care of germs and bacteria.		요즘에는 어디를 가도 사람들에게 손 씻기를 권하는 표시를 보는 것 같습니다. 일반대중 사이에 질병을 퍼트리는 세균과 바이러스가 지속적으로 위협이 되기 때문에, 보건당국은 끊임없이 우리에게 씻지 않은 손은 세균을 퍼트리는 가장 위험한 매개체라는 사실을 일깨워줍니다. 그래서 공공장소에서는 손을 깨끗이 씻으라는 안내문과 함께 종종 세균과 박테리아를 없애는데 도움이 되는 손 살균제를 제공해줍니다.
David also spoke of the importance of “clean hands,” but for a dramatically different reason. He said that clean hands are one key to being able to enter into God’s presence for worship: “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place?” he asked. And the answer? “He who has clean hands and a pure heart” (Ps. 24:3-4). Here “clean hands” is not a reference to personal hygiene but a metaphor for our spiritual condition—being cleansed from sin (1 John 1:9). It speaks of a life committed to what is right and godly—enabling us to stand blameless before our Lord in the privilege of worship.		다윗도 완전히 다른 이유로 “깨끗한 손”의 중요성을 말했습니다. 그는 깨끗한 손은 예배를 하러 하나님 앞에 나갈 수 있게 하는 중요한 수단이라고 말했습니다. 그는 “여호와의 산에 오를 자 누구며 그 거룩한 곳에 설 자가 누군고”라고 묻고는, “곧 손이 깨끗하며 마음이 청결한 자”라고 답하였습니다(시편 24: 3-4). 여기서 “깨끗한 손”은 개인의 위생에 관련된 것이 아니라, 죄로부터 깨끗해진 우리의 영적상태에 대한 은유적인 표현입니다(요한1서 1:9). 그것은 우리의 하나님 앞에 은혜로 예배드릴 때 우리가 흠 없는 모습으로 설 수 있게 해주는, 옳고 경건한 일에 헌신된 삶을 말하는 것입니다.
