Recently I read about Aron Ralston, a hiker who was trapped alone at the bottom of a remote canyon. With scant hope of being found and his strength ebbing away, he had to take drastic measures to save his life. During a moment of excruciating pain, he shouted in agony and in victory, because he had freed himself and now had a chance to escape and live.		나는 최근에 깊은 협곡의 바닥에 홀로 갇혔던 산악 등반가 아론 랠스톤의 기사를 읽었습니다. 구조될 가능성이 희박하고 기력이 점점 쇠해가는 가운데 그는 살기 위해서 극단적인 결단을 하였습니다. 몹시 심한 고통 속에 그는 자유롭게 되었고, 이제 벗어나서 살아날 기회가 생겼기 때문에 고통과 승리가 범벅된 함성을 질렀습니다.
Those who witnessed the crucifixion of Jesus saw His hours of agony and heard Him cry out in a loud voice, “It is finished!” as He gave up His spirit (John 19:30). His final words from the cross were not a cry of painful defeat but a shout of triumph, because He had accomplished all that the Father sent Him to do.		예수님이 십자가에서 죽으신 것을 지켜본 사람들은 주님의 고통의 시간을 보았고 영혼이 떠나시면서 “다 이루었다” 하시며 크게 울부짖는 소리를 들었습니다(요한복음 19:30). 예수님의 십자가상의 마지막 말씀은 패배의 고통스러운 울부짖음이 아니라 승리의 함성이었습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님이 예수님을 보내어 하게 하신 모든 것을 이루셨기 때문입니다.
When Jesus died, He shared in what all of us must experience. But far beyond that, He did what none of us can do. He paid the price for our sins that we might be forgiven and have eternal life through faith in Him.		예수님이 돌아가실 때 우리 모두가 경험해야 할 것을 같이 경험하셨습니다. 그러나 그것을 뛰어넘어 예수님은 우리 중 누구도 할 수 없는 일을 하셨습니다. 우리가 용서 받고 주님을 믿음으로 영생을 얻을 수 있도록 예수님이 우리의 죗값을 지불하신 것입니다.
“It is finished!” was the Lord’s shout of victory because now, through Him, we can escape the power of sin; we can live and be free.		“다 이루었다!”는 주님의 승리의 함성이 있었기에 우리는 지금 그분을 통하여 죄의 속박에서 벗어나 살 수 있고 자유롭게 되었습니다.
Because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us, we call the day of His death Good Friday. —David McCasland		예수님이 우리를 위해 희생하셨기 때문에 우리는 주님이 돌아가신 날을 성 금요일이라고 부릅니다.

Jesus died that we might live.		우리를 살리려고 예수님이 죽으셨다.
