Deborah Kendrick loves to attend Broadway musicals even though she is blind and always struggles to understand the setting and the movements of the characters onstage. Recently, however, she attended a play that used D-Scriptive, a new technology that conveys the visual elements of the stage production through a small FM receiver. A recorded narration, keyed to the show’s light and sound boards, describes the set and the action as it unfolds onstage. Writing in The Columbus Dispatch, Deborah said, “If you ask me if I saw a show last week in New York, my answer is yes . . . I genuinely, unequivocally mean that I saw the show.”		데보라 켄드릭은 앞을 볼 수 없어서 언제나 무대장치나 무대 위 주인공들의 움직임을 이해하지 못해 힘들어하면서도 브로드웨이 뮤지컬을 즐겨 관람합니다. 그러나 최근에 그녀는 무대작품의 시각적 요소를 조그만 FM 수신기로 전달하는 최신기술(디스크립티브)을 사용한 연극을 관람했습니다. 연극무대의 조명과 음향보드에 따라 미리 녹음된 이야기가 전개되는 무대장치와 무대의 움직임을 설명해줍니다. 콜럼버스 디스패치라는 신문에 데보라는 “만약 당신이 저에게 지난 주 뉴욕에서 정말 그 연극을 봤느냐고 물으신다면 제 대답은 ‘네’ 입니다...... 저는 분명히 그 연극을 보았으니까요.”라고 말했습니다.
Her experience struck me as a vivid illustration of the Holy Spirit’s role in our understanding of God’s Word. Just before Jesus went to the cross, He told His followers that “the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26).		그녀의 경험은 우리가 성경말씀을 이해하는데 성령님께서 하시는 역할을 생생하게 보여주었습니다. 십자가에 못 박히시기 직전 예수님은 제자들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치시고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하시리라”(요한복음 14:26).
As we open the Bible to read or study, the Spirit of Truth is with us to guide us into all truth (16:13). On our own we are blind, but through the guidance of God’s Holy Spirit we can see. —David McCasland		우리가 성경책을 열어 읽거나 공부할 때에 진리의 성령님이 오셔서 그가 우리를 모든 진리 가운데로 인도하실 것입니다(16:13). 우리 스스로는 앞을 볼 수 없지만, 성령 하나님의 인도하심을 통해 우리는 볼 수 있습니다.

The Father gave the Spirit to teach us from the Word.		하나님은 말씀으로 우리를 가르치시려 성령님을 보내셨다.
