[365묵상] 작품 얼굴을 만들라

그들이 주를 앙망하고 광채를 내었으니
    그들의 얼굴은 부끄럽지 아니하리로다 (시편 34:5)

 

 

 얼굴은 ‘얼(정신)이 담긴 굴’이다. 얼굴에는 대개 자신의 마음과 정신 상태가 담겨 있다. 마음과 정신 상태가 얼굴에 나타나기도 하지만 반대로 얼굴이 마음과 정신 상태를 조절하기도 한다. 힘들어도 기쁜 얼굴을 하면 점차 마음도 기뻐진다. 그런 훈련을 계속하면 기뻐하는 인상이 형성된다.

 얼굴은 존재의 발자취다. 얼굴만 봐도 개인의 지나온 삶이 대략 파악된다. 자세히 보면 얼굴이 잘생긴 것보다 인상이 좋은 것이 훨씬 호감을 주고 인간관계를 견고하게 만든다. 결국 인상이 인생을 규정할 때가 많다. 세월의 무게에 짓눌린 찌든 얼굴을 버리고 세월의 흐름을 극복한 작품 얼굴을 만들어 가라. 기품과 품격과 품위를 지키려고 하다 보면 점차 작품 얼굴이 만들어진다.

 화가들이 그린 성자의 얼굴을 보면 그림만 봐도 기품이 느껴진다. 어떻게 그런 얼굴을 만드는가? ‘기쁨’이 넘치는 얼굴이 ‘기품’이 넘치는 얼굴을 만든다. 작고한 코미디언 이주일 씨는 자주 말했다. “못생겨서 죄송합니다.” 못생긴 것은 죄송한 것이 아니라도 인상이 나쁜 것은 죄송한 것이 될 수 있다. 얼굴에 기쁨과 감사와 평화가 넘치게 하면 삶에도 기쁨과 감사와 평화가 넘치게 된다. 얼굴에는 과거와 현재의 인생도 그려져 있지만 미래의 인생도 그려져 있다. 얼굴을 바꿈으로 인생을 바꿔 가라. 인상이 바뀌면 인생도 바뀐다.

    하나님! 힘든 중에도 기쁜 얼굴을 잃지 않음으로
    하나님이 기뻐하시는 작품 인생을 만들어 가게 하소서

[Make a Masterpiece Face]

   Those who look to him are radiant;
   their faces are never covered with shame. (Psalm 34:5)

 According to Korean etymology, the face is the “mind hole”. The face usually reflects one's mind and mental state. The mind and mental state is expressed in the face, but on the contrary, the face controls the mind and mental state. Even if it's hard, if you make a happy face, your heart gradually becomes happy. If you continue such training, it will give you a happy impression.

 The face is the footprint of existence. Just by looking at the face, one's past life can be roughly understood. If you look closely, a good impression is much more attractive than a good-looking face, and it strengthens human relationships. After all, impressions often define life. Throw away your worn-out face weighed down by the weight of time and make a masterpiece face that overcomes the flow of time. If you try to keep your dignity, elegance, and courtesy, the masterpiece face is gradually created.

 If you look at the face of the saint painted by the artists, you can feel the elegance just by looking at the paintings. How do you make a face like that? A face full of joy makes a face full of elegance. The late comedian Lee Ju-il often said. “Sorry for being ugly.” Being ugly is not something to be sorry about, but having a bad impression can be something to be sorry about. If you make your face overflow with joy, gratitude, and peace, your life will be filled with joy, gratitude, and peace. On the face, the life of the past and the present is drawn, but the life of the future is also drawn. Change your life by changing your face. When your impression changes, your life changes too.

   God! Let me make a masterpiece life that pleases you
   by not losing a happy face even in the midst of hardship
