While getting an eye exam recently, my doctor hauled out a piece of equipment that I hadn’t seen before. I asked him what the device was, and he responded, “I’m using it to take a picture of the inside of the back of your eye.”		최근 시력검사를 받는 동안 의사가 전에 본 적이 없는 기구 하나를 꺼냈습니다. 그게 무엇이냐고 묻자 그는 “당신 눈 속의 뒤쪽 사진을 찍는데 사용하는 것입니다.” 라고 대답했습니다.
I was impressed that someone had invented a camera that could do that. But I was even more impressed by what my doctor could learn from that picture. He said, “We can gather a lot of details about your current general health simply by looking at the back of your eye.”		나는 누군가가 그와 같은 카메라를 발명했다는 사실에 감탄했습니다. 그러나 나는 의사가 그 사진으로부터 무엇을 알 수 있는지에 대해 훨씬 더 감명을 받았습니다. 그는 “우리는 눈의 뒤쪽을 보는 것만으로도 당신의 현재 전반적인 건강상태에 대해 많은 것들을 자세하게 알 수 있습니다.”라고 말했습니다.
My doctor’s comment amazed me. It is remarkable that a person’s overall health can be measured by the health of the eye. What care the Lord has taken to place these details in the bodies He has created! It immediately brings to my mind the words of David, the psalmist, who reveled in God’s creativity: “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well” (Ps. 139:14).		나는 의사의 그 말에 아주 놀랐습니다. 한 사람의 전체적인 건강상태를 눈의 건강상태를 측정하여 알 수 있다는 것은 놀라운 일입니다. 하나님께서 만드신 사람 몸 안에 이처럼 자세한 정보들을 담아두셨다니 이 얼마나 세심한 배려인지요! 하나님의 창의성을 기쁘게 노래한 시편기자 다윗의 말들이 내 마음에 즉시 떠올랐습니다. “내가 주께 감사하옴은 나를 지으심이 신묘막측하심이라 주의 행사가 기이함을 내 영혼이 잘 아나이다”(시편 139:14).

Lord, we are in awe of You! Thank You that You  created us with such complexity and care  and that You know us with such intimacy.  We love You and trust You with our lives.		주님, 저희는 주님을 경외합니다.  저희를 그토록 정교함과 배려로 창조하여 주시고,  그토록 친밀하게 저희를 알고 계시니 감사합니다.  저희의 삶을 드려 주님을 사랑하고 신뢰합니다.
All life is created by God and bears His autograph.		모든 생명은 하나님에 의해 창조되었고  하나님의 자필서명을 지니고 있다.
