[365묵상] 나를 가치 있게 보라

< 나를 가치 있게 보라 >

    그러나 너희는 택하신 족속이요 왕 같은 제사장들이요
    거룩한 나라요 그의 소유가 된 백성이니 (베드로전서 2:9)

 

 행복을 원하면 남이 나의 가치를 인정해 주기 전에 내가 나의 가치를 인정하라. 그때 인간적인 매력도 발산되고 리더십도 발휘된다. 루스벨트 대통령의 아내 엘리너가 말했다. “누구도 당신의 동의 없이 당신에게 열등감을 가지게 할 수 없습니다.” 어떤 상황에서도 나를 비하시키지 말라. 남이 어떻게 평가하든 나만 나를 비하시키지 않으면 된다.

 어느 날 한 세미나 강사가 빳빳하고 깨끗한 100달러 지폐를 들고 물었다. “이 100달러 지폐를 가지고 싶으면 손을 드십시오.” 많은 학생들이 손을 들었다. 그때 강사가 지폐를 심하게 구긴 후 “이래도 가지고 싶습니까?”라고 말했다. 여전히 학생들이 손을 들고 있었다.

 다시 강사가 마룻바닥에 지폐를 떨어뜨리고 신발로 마구 짓이겼다. 그래도 여전히 학생들이 가지고 싶다고 손을 들고 있었다. 그때 그가 말했다. “제가 100달러짜리 지폐를 구기고 짓밟아도 여러분들이 여전히 이것을 원하는 이유는 그 가치가 그대로 있기 때문입니다.”

 수많은 실패와 상처로 짓이겨지고 더럽혀져도 성도의 내적 가치는 그대로 존재한다. 나를 가치 없게 생각하지 말고 나를 가치 있게 보시는 하나님의 시각으로 나를 보라. 특히 예수님을 믿고 구원받은 성도는 천국 백성이고 하나님의 자녀로서 누구보다 가치 있는 존재다. 나를 폄하하지 말라. 어떤 상황에서도 하나님의 자녀로서 나의 가치는 변함없다.

    하나님! 수많은 실패와 상처로 짓이겨지고 더럽혀져도
    나의 가치에 대한 절대 확신만은 잃지 않게 하소서.

 

< See Yourself as Valuable >

    But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood,
    a holy nation, a people belonging to God (1 Peter 2:9)

 

 If you want happiness, acknowledge your own value before others acknowledge it. Then, your charm is released and your leadership is displayed. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Do not belittle yourself in any circumstances. No matter how others evaluate you, you don't have to belittle yourself.

 One day a seminar instructor held up a clean new $100 bill and asked. “Raise your hand if you want this $100 bill.” Many students raised their hands. Then, the instructor severely crumpled the bill and said, "Do you still want it?" The students were still raising their hands.

 Again the instructor dropped the bill on the floor and trampled it with his shoes. Still, the students were raising their hands saying they wanted it. Then he said, "Even if I crumpled and trampled the $100 bill, the reason you still want it is because it still has its value."

 Even if the believers are crushed and trampled by numerous failures and wounds, the inner value of them still exists. Don't think of yourself as worthless. See yourself through the eyes of God, who values you. In particular, the saints who believe in Jesus and are saved are the people of heaven and are more valuable than anyone else as children of God. Don't belittle yourself. Your value as a child of God is unchanged in any situation.

   God! Let me not lose absolute confidence in my values
   even if I'm crushed and stained by numerous failures and wounds.
